Day 5 - Approaching North Carolina!

After heading out this morning from Poplar Stamp Gap, Brandon stopped for lunch and to refill his water at Blue Mountain. He hiked 12 to 13 miles today arriving at Tray Mountain Shelter, his stop for the night, right before 5 o'clock this evening. While Brandon continues to meet new friends along the way, I think he is really missing his friends at home. He hopes to arrive in Hiawassee, GA tomorrow with tentative plans to take a "0 day" on Saturday for some much deserved rest. Brandon is really looking forward to crossing the GA/NC border. I think he continues to let the enormity of the trip overwhelm him at times and that he will feel a great sense of accomplishment when he arrives in North Carolina. Brandon - Keep in mind the miles you've traveled and not the ones ahead of you! And just remember, any time you want to come home and go to work for me I will trade places with you in a minute!

  1. Hey Bro! So proud of how far you've come! What a great accomplishment! You should be proud! {I sure am!} I know you are excited to have Spencer with you for a while too! That will be awesome! Just have fun, rest and take each day at a time. You don't need to know where you're going- just where you've been. Love ya! PS post a picture of you please! You can do it easily with your iPhone Mr!

  3. I hope you are doing well Brandon in all seriousness. I got out of class early tonight and was thinking what I would do for the evening because all I have have to do is work tomorrow... and for a few seconds I thought of calling you to come hang out and drink a few beers and make our way to waffle house like always then I realized you weren't here. I would love to be there with you, avoiding school at all means possible and enjoying the outdoors. Hope to hear from you soon to hear about your journey and friends you have bonded with...if you ever need a laugh just remember "doors open this Friday, so come on down to the Bar'B'queer....ahhhh sh**" good luck buddy, hope to talk to you soon
